The Cambodia Type E visa (ordinary or business visa) is for travellers going to Cambodia for business or work, or who plan to stay longer and extend inside the country. As an eVisa on evisa.gov.kh it costs US$35, allows a single entry and a one-month stay, and must be used within three months of issue. For a holiday, the cheaper Tourist eVisa (Type T) is the right choice.
What is the Cambodia Type E visa?
Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issues the Type E eVisa through its portal, evisa.gov.kh. It has been open to all nationalities online since 6 January 2023.

Since 1 August 2026 the eVisa certificate carries a QR code.
Type E or Type T: which should you choose?
Choose Type E if you are going to Cambodia for business or work, or for a longer stay you plan to extend inside Cambodia. Choose the Tourist eVisa (Type T) for tourism: it costs less (US$30) and can be extended once by 30 days. See our Cambodia tourist eVisa and e-Arrival guide.
What documents does the Type E eVisa need?
On the eVisa route, the portal's Type E requirements are:
- Passport biodata page, with more than 6 months' validity at entry
- A recent passport-size digital photo (JPEG or PNG)
- A Visa or Mastercard for payment
The embassy-issued Type E visa is different. The Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Washington, for example, asks for a letter of invitation from a company in Cambodia or a letter from the sending company[1]. If you are applying through an embassy rather than online, check that embassy's own list.
Where can you enter on a Type E eVisa?
As listed on the eVisa portal on 16 October 2026:
- Airports: Techo International (Phnom Penh), Siem Reap Angkor International and Sihanoukville International. Cruise ships are not included.
- From Vietnam: Bavet.
- From Laos: Tropaeng Kreal.
- From Thailand: Poipet and Cham Yeam are temporarily closed for eVisa entry. If you are travelling from Thailand, plan to fly in.
You can leave through any listed international border post.
Can you extend a Type E visa?
Yes, inside Cambodia. A Type E visa can be extended after entry at a Cambodian immigration office[1]. Extension types, lengths and fees are set by Cambodia's immigration authorities, so confirm the current options with them after you arrive. We do not handle extensions in Cambodia.
Before you fly: the e-Arrival card
Every traveller, visa holders included, completes the free Cambodia e-Arrival form. It is best done within 7 days before arrival.
