Security Guide

What to do if your identity is stolen

Identity theft in the context of visa applications can be particularly damaging — your passport details, address history, and financial information may all be involved. Acting quickly limits the harm.

1. Secure Accounts & Contact Issa

Step 1 — Secure your accounts immediately

Change the passwords on any accounts that may be affected, starting with your email and any platforms where you submitted personal documents. Enable two-factor authentication if you haven't already. Revoke access for any apps or devices you don't recognise.

Step 2 — Contact Issa Compass

If you believe your Issa Compass account has been accessed without your authorisation, contact us immediately. We can suspend your account, preserve your data, and help identify what may have been exposed.

Step 3 — Report to authorities

In Thailand, identity theft and fraud can be reported to the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) of the Royal Thai Police, or through your nearest police station. If you are a foreign national, your home country's embassy may also be able to assist.

Step 4 — Alert your bank and financial institutions

If financial information was involved, notify your bank immediately. Most banks have a fraud team that can freeze suspicious transactions and issue new cards.

3. Check Status & Log Details

Step 5 — Check for fraudulent applications

Contact the Thai Immigration Bureau to check whether any visa applications have been submitted in your name. If you hold a passport from another country, contact that country's immigration authority as well.

Step 6 — Document everything

Keep records of every action you take — screenshots, emails, reference numbers from reports. This documentation is important if you need to dispute fraudulent activity later.
